What had been rumored for weeks was officially announced today as Vermont assistant coach Bryson Johnson is now the Associate head coach under Dave Paulsen at Holy Cross. Ever since Paulson was named the head coach at Holy Cross I have been waiting for this news. Johnson is a Paulsen guy through and through. Paulsen was his coach at Bucknell and he also spent time as his assistant at George Mason. A great opportunity for Johnson and I wish him the best of luck. I appreciate the time he spent at Vermont and he did a great job during his time in Catamount country. It will be interesting to see how Becker and the staff choose to fill the vacant assistant position. Becker has always done a great job hiring assistants as many former Vermont assistants have found themselves in prominent roles at other programs. One scholarship and one coaching position left to round out the offseason for Vermont.
Assistants will always look to “ move “ up Becker always seems to attract quality assistants and keeping Ryan Schneider and Chris Santos they will have stability. I would think this position would attract a lot of good candidates. Short term I would hope for a good “ teacher “ long term recruiting wins championships

DeleteHe's being promoted but I don't think the level is "up." Bryson seemed great. Good for him. Becker should hire Justin Mazzula. Thank you for the coverage.
ReplyDeleteThanks for reading!
DeleteI fully support Justin Mazzula for an assistant coach position. HIs game and the UVM game are the same game.
ReplyDeleteI love Mazzula. I am guessing they will opt for some recruiting connections with this spot.
